Every year I make my children valentines instead of buying them at a store. Each child (I have a boy and a girl) tells me what they want and I make them, print them out for them and then post them on the web for everyone else. This year my daughter asked for the assorted power-ups from the Mario Bros. series of games. She requested these because (and I am quoting here) it is the kind of thing that boys would like. Keep in mind that she is 6 years old. She also made me promise that there would also be princesses... and there are. Promise kept. Feel free to download any of these PNGs and print them out at your digression. If you'd like I am also selling a 300dpi print quality PDF of these valentines that you can access for only $3.00. If you like these please share them. They are, after all, valentines.

Doctor Who Valentines 2013
Every year I make my children valentines instead of buying them at a store. Each child (I have a boy and a girl) tells me what they want and I make them, print them out for them and then post them on the web for everyone else. This year my son asked for the assorted villains of the new Doctor Who series. Together we have been watching the show and he loves the various alien races that try in vain from episode to episode to defeat the Doctor. Presented here are 8 of the most iconic villains from the 9th, 10th and 11th Doctors. Feel free to download any of these PNGs and print them out at your digression. If you'd like I am also selling a 300dpi print quality PDF of these valentines that you can access for only $3.00. If you like these please share them. They are, after all, valentines.

Valentines 2013 preview
This year my son and daughter have both asked for custom valentines. My 6-year-old daughter has asked for Mario Bros. power-ups (because that is what boys in her class like). My 9 year old son has asked for Doctor Who villains. Here is a preview of one of those. As we get closer to the 14th I will post more of them. Enjoy the preview.

DNDC Batman
I had an idea of drawing superheroes as if they were a class in Dungeons and Dragons a couple of weeks ago and the idea just hasn't let me go since then.
This is Bruk Wainewright... last of the wealthy Wainewright family and the youngest of the corrupt merchant princes that control the superstitious realm of Gothhelm. During the day Bruk indulges in all manner of debauchery, dark magics and material excess with the other corrupt and insane Gothhelm merchants but by night he assumes the mantle of Assassin of the Bat to strike back at those very same princes. Is he Gothhelm's savior or is he simply attempting to hamper and cull his competition? Only Bruk and his faithful steward Alfar know the truth. Join him on the deadly darkened streets of Gothhelm for bloody adventures, insane rogue barons and shadowy intrigue.
Welcome to the world of Dungeons and Detective Comics.
I've added a close up of the utility belt labelled for easy reference... because I am that sort of dork.

About DND for Dads and Sidekick Quests
Today I was lucky enough to be featured on the WIRED Geek Mom blog. An editor there, Natania Barron, had some really great things to say about my DND for Dads project from last year. You can read what she said here: http://www.wired.com/geekmom/2012/12/stowe-dnd-8-year-olds/
This post is mainly for everyone who found me through that post...
Why? well... because I am not sure if you know this but I've taken the DND for Dads concept and expanded it into a unique property I call Sidekick Quests.
Currently there is a webcomic component you and your kids can read weekly here: www.sidekickquests.com
I am also beta testing a Sidekick Quests RPG and a Sidekick Quests card game as well. The RPG will hopefully be ready for limited open beta testing come the first of the year. If you would be interested in joining that play test please let me know through email. You can find my email address over there on the left.
Also, in the meantime I am currently looking for submissions for kid created monsters that will eventually be published for the RPG. If your son or daughter would find that interesting you can learn more about it here: http://sidekickquests.com/announcing-fiendish-fan-made-fridays/
Thanks again for being a fan and a geek mom or geek dad!
