3rd Annual Tacoma Film Festival Poster Contest Entry (2)

Although originally I wanted to produce three separate entries for the TFF... the deadline IS tomorrow and with winning the Frost park chalk off last week and taking a much needed vacation my schedule is slammed hard again. So this is my last submission. I dig it... I like the color vs. b&w play of it. If my submissions lack anything it is action...both are landscape static images. We will see how they fair in the contest. At the very least they've earned me 8 free passes to the Grand.

ARTLESS INTERLUDE: The Fat Pants

So...

I've been on a diet.

My last physical in February I weighed in at 378lbs. with high blood pressure and borderline high cholesterol. It kinda freaked me out. So, I decided to start going to a dietitian and begin to eat right and loose weight and stuff. I started my diet in April. I am now, as of yesterday's official weigh-in, 313lbs.

To put it a better way...

These use to be my "go to comfy" pants.

I still have a lot of weight to loose before I can do a Subway Jared pose with those pants... but I am trying.

Gods and Monsters Show at the Lark

my first local gallery show (as part of a group, I am not yet supercool enough for my own solo show) starts TOMORROW! I'll be displaying 7 pieces with a God or Monster theme (also a lot of bare breasts are involved in the work I choose as well for some reason).

Opening night is from 5-9pm, The lark Gallery will provide snacks and wine.
It is kid friendly (as long as you are cool with them looking at naked monster art).

The address is 743 Broadway, Tacoma 98402
inside Sanford&Son Antiques on the Middle Floor.

I plan to be there sometime between 6 and 7 before heading over to the TAM to listen to Lance "Beautiful Angle" Kagey wax poetic about typography.
There are worse ways to spend the evening.

SURT [the destroyer]

Last weekend some old friends of mine in Savannah debuted their new band SURT [the destroyer] at the Savannah night club Live Wire. Some You Tube videos of their show can be seen here:

After the show two of the three man group, Jason Statts and Dave Williams drove to a friend's house on East 48th Street. They were approached by a black drug dealer who offered them drugs that they refused. The man then asked for money. Jason shared a beer with the guy and as the two of them walked away the son of a bitch came around to Jason's side of the car and shot Jason at point blank range. The bullet passed through Jason's neck and lodged into Dave's. Their injuries are very serious and both guys have a long and painful recovery ahead of them.

In response to the tragedy I've made a poster for their band Surt. It is the best fucking band that may never be again. It is worthy of a hundred posters. Anyone interested in a 8.5" x 11" sized print of the poster can purchase one from me for $25.oo. I will print them at cost. All proceeds will be donated to Jason and Dave. I am also giving the master file to John, the Surt drummer so that he can use the image for local fundraising in Savannah.
